A huge and exciting adventure is coming in Spring 2026. The ISCM Romanian Section is honored to be part of Artistic Director’s Dan Dediu‘s initiative of organizing one of the biggest new music events in the world, the World New Music Days Festival in Bucharest, after 27 years.

We deeply thank the ISCM – International Society for Contemporary Music for accepting the Romanian project and we are all looking forward to starting our sonic-engines!

World New Music Days 2026: COLUMNA INFINITA, is organized by the Union of Composers and Musicologists in Romania, in collaboration with ISCM Romania, between May 23-30, 2026, and its theme is an homage to the great Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, whose anniversary of 150 years we celebrate in 2026.

“The Infinite Column is a symbol of novelty and openness to new heights and wholeness. By it we understand eternity and rhythm, freedom and audacity. Brâncuși’s column contains 15 octahedral cast-iron modules, with half a module at the base and top. At the top there’s an opening, suggesting an infinite continuation towards the sky. We like to think that’s where the stream of new music begins. After all, if one looks at the shape of Brâncuși’s column and turns it horizontally, it is the very shape of sound waves.” – Dan Dediu, Artistic Director of WNMD 2026.
